A suite of applied sciences – together with an aquatic robotic vacuum that sucks up trash – is getting used this summer season to clean up plastic pollution before it can get into the lake. Despite the immense progress in artificial intelligence lately, AI and robots are still dumb in many ways, particularly in terms of fixing new issues or navigating unfamiliar environments. They lack the human ability, discovered even in younger children, to learn the way the world works and apply that general information to new situations.
